BKD’s Enterprise Risk Solutions (ERS) division has a new director with extensive experience in the energy industry. Charlie Wright joins the Oklahoma City team after spending 11 years as vice president for internal audit at Devon Energy Corporation.
Charlie managed Devon’s audit organization, overseeing about 150 audits each year. He developed and implemented the company’s enterprise risk management system, including a customized framework, risk assessment survey, quarterly risk workshops and documentation of more than 60 inherent risks.
Before joining Devon in 2005, Charlie was general auditor at American Airlines, where he led a team of auditors who provided compliance and assurance services to more than 150 locations in 45 countries. He also founded Wright Audit & Risk Management, LLC, a company that offers consulting services for internal audit, risk management, quality assurance and employee benefit solutions.
One of Charlie’s goals is to explain how BKD can help management implement a practical approach to Enterprise Risk Management (ERM). Most executives understand that managing their enterprise risk is critical for their organizations, but there’s a lot of confusion about how to implement an ERM process.
Charlie is a CPA, Certified Internal Auditor and Certified Information Systems Auditor. He is vice chairman of professional guidance on the Global Board of Directors of The Institute of Internal Auditors. He has served on several other boards and committees, including the American Petroleum Institute Audit Committee.
